http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/node/43920I've mentioned many times before my love for the film and I'm eager (that's putting it mildly) to see the "restored" edition. Granted, the restored elements were in pretty bad shape and I suspect there will be an obvious difference between the recently found minutes and the remainder of the film. Further, even this restored edition will be missing a few seconds of scenes found at the end of one of the reels (it was, apparently, too degraded).
But who cares?!
The Fritz Lang cut of the film was thought lost forever. And as fantastic as the current Kino restored version of the film is, it too lacks several minutes of footage. The fact is that everyone currently alive who has seen this film (unless, of course, you somehow saw the premiere back in 1927), has seen a truncated version. And that version is fantastic in and of itself.
I can only imagine how much better the Fritz Lang cut could be...
